There are so many decisions that you have to make when you’re planning your wedding. From choosing your bridesmaids to choosing the colour and the theme of the day, you have a lot on your plate. But there’s one thing that often slips people’s minds and it’s the wedding favors. Now everybody will be bringing you gifts because it’s your party and everybody will be taking home a slice of cake, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have beautiful favours to go along with it.
Favours are a great way to express your appreciation for them joining you on your special day, but there has to be some genuine intention behind the tokens that you pick. Sugared almonds are so very 1950s and they’re often abandoned or discarded. So you need to choose wedding favours that people actually want. With that in mind, here’s exactly what to know about choosing wedding favours.
- Make it personal. One of the biggest mistakes you can make when choosing your wedding favours is just choosing something generic. That’s why we highly advise against sugared almonds. Make sure that when you choose your wedding favours, you also personalize the hang tags on them so that the people can keep those as a memento. The parents, for example, may want to keep the hang tags framed because it’s part of your special day and they’ll be themed exactly how you want them to be. Make sure that you’re picking something that’s exciting and has some personal significance. For example, if you are somebody who is well known for baking cookies then you may choose to make cookies.
- Consider getting edible ones. There’s a reason that companies like to make personalized sweet wrappers for wedding favours, and it’s because there is very rarely any waste. If you’re handing out chocolate bars or candies, then knowing that you can have personalized wrapping around them and have them in an organza bag with a pretty ribbon is going to be a wonderful way to end your wedding day. Let’s also be honest, everybody loves something to eat at the end of a long day, so it’s always going to be a hit to have that sweet treat.
- Don’t forget to personalize the packaging. We talked about personalized hang tags, but we’re also going to talk about the wrappers. If you’re wrapping cookies, make sure that the packaging for that is personalized as well. You can even give out coasters that have a picture of you on your engagement or coasters that mark the day with an engraved date and time of your wedding. Of course, not everybody’s going to want a coaster that has your wedding on it, so maybe save that special one for your family. Guests are going to be more than likely to use something that they can keep using again and again, so if you do give out favours that have a significant value, like notepads and pens, then just make sure they’re of good quality.
